About this property

Welcome to Alpenhof Lodge

Alpenhof Lodge offers a European-inspired retreat nestled amid the forest at the base of the Mammoth Mountain ski area. The hotel’s style is characterized by woodsy, alpine decor with some dated touches that add to its charm. Guests find the rooms cozy, warm, and clean, though some note that the furnishings and amenities reflect an older building rather than a modern update. Spacious rooms with comfortable beds and practical features like small fridges and ski racks cater well to winter travelers.

This four-star lodge provides a laid-back atmosphere, featuring a bistro and a popular onsite spot, the Clocktower Cellar, known for its whiskey selection and craft beers. Additional amenities include an indoor pool, a sauna, and a sports bar, appealing to guests seeking relaxation after outdoor activities. The property welcomes LGBTQ+ visitors and offers convenient amenities such as free parking, though some guests mention limited in-room conveniences like microwaves and no air conditioning.

The location is considered a significant advantage, situated just across the street from the Village Gondola and within walking distance to various restaurants and shops. This proximity eliminates the need for driving to the ski resort, a perk appreciated by many guests. Alpenhof Lodge also provides easy access to outdoor attractions such as Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and Devils Postpile National Monument, making it a practical choice for those focused on skiing, hiking, and exploring the region.

Guest reviews highlight a friendly and helpful staff, although experiences with front desk service have varied. While the hotel does not offer continental breakfast currently and some facilities are showing signs of age, it remains a favored option for visitors prioritizing location, comfort, and a relaxed alpine environment over modern luxury. Overall, the lodge suits skiers and outdoor enthusiasts seeking convenient access to Mammoth’s main attractions combined with a classic mountain lodge feel.

My friend and I stayed in a King room for 3 nights during the MLK holidays for a ski trip. The location is very convenient-- only a couple of minutes' easy walk to the village gondola, restaurants and shops, saving lots of time and energy everyday. All the staff members at the front desk have been extremely helpful and easy to communicate with. We were lucky enough to stay in a room that met all our major personal requirements, thanks to their kindly arrangements. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We would stay again for any future mammoth ski trips when the village gondola operates.

Great location. Spacious and comfortable room. Convenient parking. A nice bonus was the helpful information provided about local bars, restaurants, and more. The first young man at reception was excellent and extremely helpful. The second acted as if every question was one too many. With the season still ahead, that’s definitely something to work on.

This hotel is definitely a hidden gem! If you are coming to Mammoth to go skiing, this place is perfect. Yes, it’s a bit outdated, but in a charming way. The location is directly across the street from the village, all the restaurants and you can carry all your ski gear with boots on right across the street to the gondola that takes you right into Mammoth. Rooms are cozy, warm and super clean! 1000% recommend!

This charming European style lodge is spotless, spacious, well designed, and is located just steps from a lot of fun restaurants, the Mammoth gondola, and a small general store, yet is still nestled within the trees. Aside from the standard amenities, our room is very generous in size, has a firm but comfortable mattress, has convenient shelves and a small fridge, extra spots to hang jackets, and a pretty view of the snow and trees. I am normally a light sleeper but was not disturbed. The property is a tiny bit dated but that adds to its charm and the housekeeping staff keeps everything looking SPOTLESS. I also appreciated that it feels just like when we stayed in Switzerland. This is a great value for your money. 5 star for me!

Very conveniently located in the village, reasonably priced with plenty of parking. Rooms are nice for an older hotel, definitely has that old world charm with nice simple vintage alpine decor. Racks for hanging your skis/boards. The only downside is that the only microwave is downstairs, so for cheapskates like me you'll have to hike to heat up your food. Maybe the other units in the back buildings have one in the room?

It was cute, but the room did not deliver for me. The room refrigerator was so small. They have dinner place and pub on-site. There is no continental breakfast due to COVID-19 and no coffee in the room. There is a blow dryer (so 80"s). People were very friendly and helpful. It is an older building which adds to the outside charm. Tv, wi-fi, and no air conditioning. They have a heater and a safe in the room. No pool available due to covid-19. Room service is requested at front desk. You can get what ever you need for your room. That was nice. Hand delivered towels at my request. The room is very spacious and there are hooks for the winter time for you to hang your coats, there very sturdy. I was just a little disappointed in the price I thought it was too high for summer. However, I did find out that they do have summer activities up here even though it's mostly known for skiing. It was an alright room. I got a King bed and refrigerator. I'll try to post pictures. It had a couch but it was not a fold-out. The bed however was pretty comfortable. I think that's important for a good night sleep.

Great location right at the base of the village and a short walk to the gondola. Didn't have to drive at all to the resort and deal with the parking / parking shuttles, so perfect for skiers. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. We didn't try the clock tower cellar or Petras but will on our next visit. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Not at all a complaint, but for early-to-bedders the weekend can bring some noise from the patrons at the bar and restaurant. Will definitely stay again when we are in Mammoth!

This is a great place to stay due to its location right across from the village at mammoth where you can catch the gondola to canyon lodge. I stayed in the two bedroom duplex in the back which is nice and secluded. The decor is dated and the kitchen is plain but serviceable. The combo gas fireplace/heater in the living room is a nice touch but wasn't working when I was there recently. The bathroom is larger then it was the last time I was there and the shower is a great size. The staff was very helpful and made up for the short comings there. The front desk personnel made some suggestions for my family to do. Now I just have to figure out how to get reservations to the restaurant before they book up.. Lol

Definitely a great deal when you look at location / price. Located next to Mammoth village as well as the Gondola to Canyon Lodge, this hotel is a perfect spot for skiers. It’s definitely old fashion and might need a refresh of some of its amenities (sauna and jacuzzi), but overall I think this is definitely a great deal if you do expect to spend more time in the mountain rather in your room.

Nice non chain lodging Rooms were a little small but nice furnishings. Clean and no weird smells. Had a great cellar bar with impressive whiskey selection and an equally impressive selection of craft beer on tap. Nice breakfast provided. Lots of other entertainment options within walking distance. Nice indoor pool/hot tub and sauna.
